See Your Mac Screen on Your iPhone

Published 2026-09-26 · Updated 2026-10-01

You can see your Mac screen on your iPhone while the Mac stays where it is: the helper captures the main display, encodes it, and the iPhone app shows it live so you can tap controls on the picture itself.

Stream specs (version 1.0)

Setting What ships today
Codec H.264
Frame rate 30 fps, on the same Wi-Fi and through the relay
Display Main display only
Long edge Up to 1600 px
Audio Not sent (planned)
Extra monitors Not sent (planned)
Clipboard / files Not synced (planned)

What you can do on the live screen

The Screen view is a touch surface over the video:

  • Tap to click where you point.
  • Two-finger scroll to move through pages and lists.
  • Pinch to zoom the picture, up to 4×, for small controls; drag with one finger to pan while zoomed.
  • Long-press and let go for right-click.
  • Hold, then drag to click-drag: move windows or select text.

For pointer work without staring at the video, switch to the trackpad view. For typing, tap the keyboard button in the Screen view’s floating control; the keyboard page lists the keys it sends.

What the Mac helper needs

Screen capture uses macOS Screen Recording (on macOS 15 and later the permission is labeled Screen & System Audio Recording). Path: System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen Recording. The live screen goes only to your paired iPhone, and only while the Screen view is open; the helper does not save it to disk. Ask is separate: a task that can see the screen sends screenshots to the AI model you chose, as the Ask page explains.

Pointer and click actions still need Accessibility under the same Privacy & Security section.

Network path

On the same Wi-Fi, the phone talks to the Mac directly. When you are away, traffic goes through the encrypted relay and the app picks the path automatically. Pair once with secure pairing; no router changes required.

Honest limits

  • One display — If you use multiple monitors, only the main one appears on the phone until multi-display ships.
  • No sound from the Mac through Poket PC in 1.0.
  • No clipboard or file transfer in 1.0; use other tools or wait for planned releases.
  • 30 fps on every path — The stream runs at 30 fps on the same Wi-Fi and through the relay alike.

Get started

Install the helper from download or Mac, join the public iPhone beta on TestFlight while the App Store release is in review, then follow mirror Mac screen to iPhone for AirPlay versus remote desktop. Version 1.0 is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get my Mac screen on my iPhone?

Install the Poket PC helper on your Mac, allow Screen Recording and Accessibility, pair your iPhone with the QR code and six-digit check, then open the Screen view in the iPhone app while the Mac is awake.

Can I mirror my MacBook display to my iPhone?

Poket PC streams the Mac's main display into the app over your network or the relay. It is remote desktop viewing, not AirPlay mirroring to the phone.

Does the live screen include sound?

Not in version 1.0. Host audio is planned for a later milestone.

Can I see a second monitor on my iPhone?

No. Only the main display is sent today. Multi-display support is planned.

What frame rate and resolution should I expect?

H.264 at 30 fps, on the same Wi-Fi and through the relay alike, with the long edge of the main display scaled to at most 1600 pixels. HEVC is planned.
