When TeamViewer is the better pick
Choose TeamViewer when you need a mature, cross-platform remote desktop product rather than a Mac-and-iPhone-focused tool.
You support other people’s computers or run a small IT desk. Paid plans scale from 200 managed devices on Business to 500 on Corporate, with more licensed users on the higher plans. Business and higher plans include TeamViewer AI credits for Tia troubleshooting in support sessions; since 8 September 2026 Tia can apply a fix after the IT expert approves it.
You need features Poket PC does not ship yet. TeamViewer’s iPhone listing includes multi-monitor, two-way file transfer, and Wake-on-LAN. Poket PC shows the main display only, with no file transfer, no clipboard sync, no audio and no Windows host.
Your family or workplace already uses TeamViewer. The controlling side needs a verified TeamViewer account. If everyone already has one, staying on one tool can be simpler than adding another helper.
You host or control more than macOS. TeamViewer lists Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and Raspberry Pi as host platforms. Poket PC is Mac-only as a host in 1.0.
When Poket PC is the better pick
Choose Poket PC when the Mac is yours, the phone is your daily controller, and you want a free personal setup without a vendor account.
You want no account and no subscription for basic remote control. Pair once with a QR code and six-digit code. Version 1.0 is free with no ads and no in-app purchases.
You care about a relay that only forwards ciphertext. Poket PC encrypts end to end through its relay; the relay matches connections by a random token and copies encrypted bytes. It sees IP addresses, timing and message sizes, never the screen or what you type. See security for the threat model.
You want live screen, trackpad, tiles, and an AI agent in one iPhone app. Action tiles open apps, send media and brightness keys, show Mission Control, and lock or sleep the Mac. Ask runs tasks on the Mac through Claude Code or a local Ollama model and keeps going after you close the app. With Claude, the prompts and screenshots a task needs go to Anthropic under your own subscription.
You only need your main display. Poket PC’s limits are plain: main display only, at 30 fps, no audio, no file transfer yet. If that matches how you use a Mac mini or MacBook from the couch, you are not paying for enterprise features you will not touch.

Setup and day-to-day use
TeamViewer needs a verified TeamViewer account on the controlling side before it will open an outgoing connection. Poket PC installs a small menu-bar helper, asks for Accessibility and Screen Recording (Screen & System Audio Recording on macOS 15+), and pairs over QR. Both can reach the Mac away from home: TeamViewer connects directly for most sessions and relays the rest through its routers; Poket PC connects directly on the same network and otherwise through its encrypted relay, without port forwarding.
